  • Stay Close: If it’s safe, stay with the person who’s struggling. Just being there, offering some quiet reassurance, can make a world of difference. They need to know they’re not alone, even if all you can do is sit quietly with them.

  • Speak Softly: Use simple, calm language. This isn’t the time for deep conversations or trying to convince them of anything—just be there with gentle words and support.

  • Get Help: Don’t be afraid to call one of the hotlines listed above. There are professionals ready to help you through this, and they can provide the guidance you need.

  • After It’s Over: Once the crisis has passed, it’s important to reach out to a healthcare provider for ongoing support. This will help prevent future crises and start the process of healing.
